San Joaquin has fourth shooting in 12 days. Fresno deputies say the victim is in a gang

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fourth shooting in the city of San Joaquin in the last 12 days on Saturday night.

The call came in at around 6:37 p.m., and the shooting was reported between Utah and Manning avenues, said Tony Botti, spokesman for the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

“We went (to) San Joaquin for a person with a gunshot wound to the leg,” he said. “We determined the male victim is a 30-year-old and involved in gangs.”

Botti said the Sheriff’s Office doesn’t identify gangs because they “don’t give them the credit they desire.”

Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium detectives also responded, given that there’s “much gang activity” in the area, Botti said. No arrests were made in Saturday’s shooting.

“It was the fourth shooting in that city in last 12 days,” he said.

The previous shootings have included a homicide, two separate injuries and one shooting that didn’t strike anyone, Botti said. Four people have been arrested in connection with two of the cases.

In late May, a 17-year-old was arrested on murder charges connected to the killing of 19-year-old Yordy Urbierta of Tranquility on May 26. On May 28, another person was shot in the arm.

On May 30, three men were arrested and face attempted murder charges in connection with their alleged involvement in the drive-by shooting on May 28.
