A 17-year-old boy was booked on homicide charges Friday stemming from a shooting in the city of San Joaquin, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.

The teenager was booked into Fresno County Juvenile Justice Campus.

Authorities said the shooting was gang-related.

The boy is suspected of killing 19-year-old Yordy Urbieta of Tranquillity on Tuesday night in the the area of Nevada and 6th streets in San Joaquin, which is located about 30 miles southwest of Fresno and has a population of about 4,000.

On Thursday, another shooting took place in the same area. It is unclear if the teenager is connected with that shooting.

That victim was shot in the arm and is expected to be OK.
