Within 48 hours, a Fresno County city endures another shooting in the same location

Less than 48 hours after a Fresno County young man was shot to death, another shooting occurred at the same location Thursday.

Fresno County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call around 8:45 p.m. of a shooting victim at Sixth and Nevada streets in the small west-side city of San Joaquin.

The victim was transported to a hospital and his condition was not immediately known.

On Tuesday, 19-year-old Yordy Urbieta of Tranquillity was shot and killed near the same spot in San Joaquin, which is located about 30 miles southwest of Fresno and has a population of about 4,000.

When deputies arrived on the scene Tuesday, they encountered a rowdy crowd of about 100 people who were not following orders to make room for first responders to do their job, according to the sheriff’s office.

The investigation into Thursday’s shooting remains ongoing.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 559-489-7867.
