The two men who drowned March 7 at Millerton Lake have been identified.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office said Dennis Penner, 83, of Madera and Daniel Trapp, 81, of Fresno were thrown into the water from a bass boat speeding in the Sky Harbor Channel.

Park rangers received a call at 9:45 a.m.

A State Park Peace Officer pulled both unresponsive victims from the water and began CPR, but they were pronounced dead.

One was wearing a life jacket that did not deploy properly and the other was not wearing any type of personal flotation device.
