Fatal two-vehicle collision claims life of an 18-year-old in Fresno County. He was ID’d

CHP

An 18-year-old died Friday in a two-vehicle collision in Fresno County.

The crash happened at midnight at West Kamm and South Brawley avenues in Caruthers when both vehicles met at the center of the roadway, CHP Officer Anthony Dalton said.

The teen was in a Ford truck traveling westbound on Kamm, just east of Brawley and a semi was traveling eastbound on Kamm, east of Brawley when at some point both collided between the two lanes.

The Ford driver was seriously injured and died at the scene. He was identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as Daniel Avila, 18, of Caruthers. The semi driver was not injured.

Dalton said they believe the truck had a dash cam. Toxicology reports are still pending.

The investigation is ongoing.
