Two men drowned Friday morning at Millerton Lake, authorities said.

Park rangers received a call at 9:45 a.m. regarding two men believed to have been thrown into the water from a bass boat speeding in the Sky Harbor Channel.

A State Park Peace Officer was on scene and reached the scene at 10 a.m. The officer pulled both unresponsive victims from the water and began CPR, but were pronounced dead.

Both men were estimated to be around 80 years old, park rangers said.

One was wearing a life jacket that did not deploy properly and the other was not wearing any type of personal flotation device.

No other victims were found in the water.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office is leading the investigation, while State Parks investigates the boating incident.
