Update: Woman identified by coroner after she was killed by Amtrak train in Fresno
A pedestrian was killed Saturday morning after she was struck by an Amtrak train in Fresno.
Officers responded to Fruit Avenue, near Ashlan Avenue after receiving a call at 10:30 a.m. of a train colliding with a pedestrian.
Officers located a woman who had been struck and killed by a train. She was identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as 66-year-old Josephine Rico.
Amtrak will be handling the investigation.
The roadway was closed for two hours.
