Two killed in Fresno house fire, firefighters say. Believed to be older couple

UPDATE: Grandmother and grandson killed in Fresno house fire identified

Two people believed by firefighters to be older adults were killed early Monday in a house fire in southwest Fresno.

Firefighters were called about 6:45 a.m. to a home on Strother Avenue east of Thorne Avenue where fire and smoke were visible, Deputy Chief Ted Semonious said.

Crews arrived to find fire throughout the house from a back bedroom up to the front door, he said.

Firefighters determined there were two victims believed to be an older couple, but Semonious said not all of the demographic details could be immediately confirmed.

It was not immediately clear of the home had smoke detectors, he said, but a fire alarm was sounding when firefighters arrived.
