A Fresno man was identified by the coroner after he drowned in Millerton Lake earlier this week.

The drowning was reported at 1:40 p.m. Monday at the La Playa Day Use Area.

About 1:45 p.m., rangers and a lifeguard pulled 19-year-old Miguel Diaz Mendoza out from 8 to 10 feet of water, approximately 30 feet from shore, Millerton Lake Supervising Ranger Steve Barber said.

Barber said Mendoza wasn’t breathing, didn’t have a pulse and was not wearing a lifejacket.

CPR was performed by CalFire EMTs before he was taken to St. Agnes Medical Center and later pronounced dead.
