Drivers taken to hospital following two-vehicle collision in Fresno. One is critical

UPDATE: Woman critically injured in Ashlan collision has died. She’s been ID’d by Fresno coroner

A two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon sent two women to a Fresno hospital.

The collision happened at 3 p.m. at the intersection of East Ashlan and North Angus avenues involving a 22-year-old woman and a 72-year-old woman, Fresno Police Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega said.

The older woman was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. The other woman was in stable condition.

It’s unknown what caused the collision, but Trueba Vega said “it looks like the 72-year-old victim turned in front of the other vehicle, causing the collision.”

The older woman was driving a white sedan while the other driver was in a red vehicle. One vehicle ended up on a lawn.

Eastbound Ashlan and Angus was closed to through traffic for the investigation.
