Woman critically injured in Ashlan collision has died. She’s been ID’d by Fresno coroner

A woman taken to a Fresno hospital following a two-vehicle collision in northeast Fresno on April 21 has died.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office on Monday identified the 72-year-old woman as Irma Alvarado of Clovis.

The collision happened at 3 p.m. at the intersection of East Ashlan and North Angus avenues involving a 22-year-old woman and Alvarado, police said.

Alvarado was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, but later died. The other woman was in stable condition.

It’s unknown what caused the collision, but police said “it looks like the 72-year-old victim turned in front of the other vehicle, causing the collision.”

Alvarado was driving a white sedan while the other driver was in a red vehicle. Alvarado’s car ended up on a lawn.
