It’s no surprise that Chef Paul’s won, really.
The restaurant landed on Buzzfeed’s national list of 30 must-try Black-owned restaurants in America. Joe Rogan previously raved about it in his podcast, and Tyra Banks even stopped by for a meal a few years back.
The tiny restaurant is at 952 F St. in Chinatown in downtown Fresno. Be prepared if you go – it gets packed. It’s open from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.
It serves soul food and comfort food, and is perhaps best known for its oxtail soup, fried chicken and waffles. Also on the menu are dishes like smothered pork chops, shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes, and mac ‘n cheese.
Prices range from $14.95 to $24.95.
