A man was shot and killed Wednesday night in a Fresno neighborhood.

Officers with the Fresno Police Department arrived at the scene, just after 6:30 p.m. in the area of Poppy and Lorena avenues and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso, Lt. Marcus Gray II said.

The man was given life-saving measures, but was pronounced dead. Police identified him as 24-year-old Faustino Mancilla.

Detectives determined that a group of individuals were attending a gathering at the home. At some point, Mancilla and another person got in an argument before shots were fired, police said.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown.

Officers were canvassing for surveillance video. Police don’t have a suspect description.

This is the 17th murder in Fresno in 2025. At this time last year, there were 26 murders.
