Why the Las Vegas Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles game is off Fox TV in Fresno
Raider Nation fans in Fresno hoping to catch the Las Vegas Raiders game against the Philadelphia Eagles on a regular TV channel will have to find different avenues to watch the game Sunday.
Earlier in the week, it was reported KMPH 26 will not show the Raiders-Eagles game and instead will broadcast the Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions game.
No specific reason was given during the week, but the choice raised eyebrows locally since Raiders games are typically shown in the Fresno area because of the team’s large regional fan base.
On Friday, Fox Sports spokesman Andrew Fegyveresi said the Rams-Lions game was chosen because of the Matthew Stafford-Jared Goff matchup.
Both quarterbacks are going against their former teams.
“These sometimes can be tough decisions,” he said. “But we work directly with our stations on game assignments/preferences – and this one had been set for the last two weeks.”
Fans in Sacramento and Modesto will get to watch the Raiders game.
Raider Nation is left scrambling for other alternatives how they can watch the game. Here are some of the possibilities:
▪ Skyline Club Bar & Grill in Clovis opens at 10 a.m. on Sundays and has multiple TVs.
▪ The Press Box has several locations that show NFL games.
▪ Dave & Buster’s will show games. The establishment opens at 10 a.m. Sunday.
▪ Tune in to NFL Sunday Ticket or go hang out with family or a friend who have the subscription service.
