Las Vegas Raiders Week 7 game won’t be on TV in Fresno area. What station says about it
Las Vegas Raiders fans in the Fresno area will be shut out from watching the NFL team’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
The Raiders and Eagles will kick off at 1:05 p.m. from Allegiant Stadium, but KMPH 26 — the area’s Fox affiliate — will instead show the Los Angeles Rams and the Detroit Lions game, leaving many fans scrambling to find options outside the home — like a restaurant or bar with DirecTV and the NFL package.
Fox airs NFC games on Sunday afternoons and KMPH has shown Raiders’ games in the past. It’s a surprise considering the area is considered a Raiders TV market. Bakersfield is in the Los Angeles market, and tends to get Los Angeles Chargers and Rams’ games.
The Fresno station said the decision came from the network and the NFL, and that the Rams game was just what was assigned to the station this week.
Raiders fans in the Bay Area and Sacramento region will get to see the Raiders/Eagles game on Fox affiliates KTVU and KTXL, respectively.
CBS, which primarily airs the AFC games, will show the Chicago Bears at Tampa Bay Buccaneers from Raymond James Stadium.
Game choice is unrelated to hacker attack
The scheduling is wholly unrelated to last weekend’s ransomware attack on KMPH and parent company Sinclair Broadcast Group.
On Tuesday, Sinclair reported that all of its stations were operational but “certain features, such as online live streams, have been interrupted.”
At KMPH, the effects were visible, with some staff work being done on portable devices and news anchors reading from piles of printed paper and hosting some segments on Facebook.
