There was a disagreement between Raiders quarterback Derek Carr and coach Jon Gruden on Sunday that looked heated after the ex-Fresno State star threw a deep incomplete pass to Jalen Richard in the first half.

Concerns?

Don’t worry, Raiders fans. Everything is good between Carr and Gruden after a 23-21 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, snapping a five-game losing streak.

“Not the first time it happened,” Gruden said. “We’re both competitors and competing hard. We had a man-to-man situation, he went for the big play and we had a mild disagreement. But you know what? That’s part of this business. We’re going to have times where we’re going to clash a little bit, and we’re also very supportive of one another. I’m really proud of him, and he’s been through a lot this year and I’m glad he’s our quarterback.”

It was Carr’s 15th game-winning drive since entering the NFL in 2014. He completed 19 of 31 for 192 yards and two touchdowns.

For the 21st time in his career, Carr posted a passer rating of at least 100 points, finishing Sunday with 100.5. He is one game behind Jim Plunkett for the fourth-most in franchise history.

Carr was asked about the disagreement between him and his coach, but echoed Gruden’s comments.

“I’m surprised they caught us,” Carr said of the CBS cameras. “It’s not the first time him and I been that way. We’re both fiery and very competitive. It’s never a demeaning thing. We’re both yelling at the same kind of thing. Everything is good, I promise.”

Raiders tight end Lee Smith gave his take on what he saw after he pulled Gruden aside.

“They were both fired up,” he said. “I wasn’t trying to be a peacemaker, I was just as fired up as well. I’m pretty sure I had a smile on my face. Coach Gruden is a wild man and he’s a lot of fun to be around, so I told him the way he’s going to go to the grave is having a stroke on the sideline.”

Carr put the Raiders (2-8) in position to win the game when he hit a 32-yard pass to rookie receiver Marcell Ateman to the Arizona 37-yard line. Four players later, Daniel Carlson nailed a 35-yard field goal.

“He made a heck of a catch,” Carr said of Ateman. “I trust him. I really do. He’s proven it over and over again. For him to do that, it was awesome.”

Injuries - Receiver Brandon LaFell had to leave the game with an injury that Gruden described as “bad” — it’s believed to be an Achillies’ injury, Gruden said.

“Almost tragic what happened to our receiving corp,” Gruden added.

The Raiders on Sunday already were without Jordy Nelson (knee) and Martavis Bryant (knee).
