Fresno Grizzlies pitcher Tyson Perez, the former Hanford High and Fresno City College star, was named Wednesday to the Pacific Coast League team for the Triple-A All-Star Game.

Grizzlies outfielder L.J. Hoes was also named to the PCL team for the game against the International League on July 15 at Werner Park in Omaha, Nebraska.

Perez, 25, in his first Triple-A season, is 1-2 with a 2.76 ERA, five saves and 20 strikeouts in 24 appearances. He was named to the 30-player team by the league.

Hoes is one of 13 elected in fan voting. He’s batting .338 (fourth-best in the PCL) with three home runs, 38 RBI and 11 stolen bases.

The Grizzlies said two of their ex-players recently called up to the Houston Astros, Jon Singleton and Domingo Santana, each received good fan support and would likely have been voted to the Triple-A All-Star team.

The Grizzlies are at El Paso through Friday, then come home for a four-game series against Tacoma at Chukchansi Park that starts with the annual Fourth of July Fireworks Night.

Straily promoted to bigs, other moves

Grizzlies right-hander Dan Straily was recalled by the parent Astros on Wednesday after the demotion of lefty Brett Oberholtzer.

In the latest of his four partial seasons in Triple-A, the 26-year-old Straily is 6-6 with a 4.06 ERA and 70 strikeouts to 14 walks in 77.2 innings for the Grizzlies.

A slight change in his mechanics with his front glove side since mid-May helped Straily improve his production. The former Oakland A’s prospect was 4-3 with a 3.35 ERA and 52 strikeouts over 48.1 innings in his past eight outings.

Straily was even better the past two weeks, going 2-1 with a 1.89 ERA and 17 strikeouts to three walks in 19 innings.

In the majors, Straily has a career 13-12 record with a 4.54 ERA and 203 strikeouts in 243.2 innings over parts of three seasons.

Oberholtzer has bounced between the Grizzlies and Astros this season, in part because of a blister injury.

In his last start in the majors, Oberholtzer got lit up for six runs on four hits and three walks in 1.1 innings en route to a 9-6 loss Saturday to the New York Yankees.

▪ Infielder Tyler White joined the Grizzlies following a promotion from Double-A Corpus Christi. He hit .284 with seven homers and 40 RBIs in Double-A and won the Texas League Home Run Derby on Wednesday.

▪ Left-handed reliever Mitch Lambson (0-0, 2.60 ERA) was placed on the temporary inactive list.
