The winner of The Bee’s player poll

Bryant Thao of Clovis West is The Bee’s Player of the Week winner for Week 2.

Thao totaled 52.1% of the votes while TJ Hall of San Joaquin Memorial came in with 40% and Herman Luna III of Corcoran at 6.6%.

In last week’s 34-27 win in double overtime over Clovis West, Thao made a 49-yard field goal to send the game into the second OT. He also made a 39-yard field goal.

Thursday highlight: Another thriller for Buchanan

Buchanan did it again.

The Bee’s top-ranked team won another nail-biter, this time against Tri-River Athletic Conference rival Clovis.

The Cougars had overtime on their minds Thursday night, driving down the field, but Buchanan forced a fumble and recovered the ball at their 5-yard line with 1:45 remaining to secure a 45-38 win.

In Week 2, the Bears knocked off previous No. 1 Central on a game-ending goal by Austin Arroyo in a 31-28 win at Koligian Stadium.

Clovis entered ranked No. 5 in this week’s CIF Central Section Top 10 rankings by The Bee.
