The Buchanan and Poway high school wrestling teams met for a second consecutive season.

Only this time, the Bears traveled to the San Diego area on Saturday.

Buchanan, ranked No. 1 in the state by CalGrappler, defeated No. 4 Poway 31-23 in a dual meet.

The Bears had a 10-0 lead before Poway picked up its first win.

Poway kept close in the dual before Sloan Swan’s pins at 172 pounds restored the Bears’ 10-point lead.

Buchanan and Poway met last season in a unique outdoor dual at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis.

In that matchup, the Bears rolled to a 50-9 win in front of 500 fans.

Next up for the Bears is the Tri-River Athletic Conference tournament that will be held at 9 a.m. Feb. 4 at Clovis East.
