Fresno-area preps: New No. 1 girls basketball team; section cheer championships

Clovis High is The Fresno Bee’s top-ranked high school girls basketball team after defeating Clovis West last week.

Cougars freshman Sadie Sin hit 1 of 2 free throws with 1.2 seconds left to give the Cougars a 52-51 victory over Clovis West, snapping the Golden Eagles’ 33-game winning streak in the Tri-River Athletic Conference.

The Cougars picked up another impressive win against Central on Friday.

Clovis and Clovis West will meet again in the TRAC finale at 7 p.m. Feb. 10 at Clovis High.

Lemoore moves up two spots to No. 6 after defeating Hanford and Tulare Union.
