There is never a shortage of excitement when it comes to the Buchanan and Clovis high school wrestling teams meeting in “The Big One,” their annual dual match.

You can certainly expect to see performances and pyrotechnics prior to the wrestlers hitting the mat.

Buchanan wrestlers entered the gym for Thursday’s showdown wearing navy blue jackets to the “Top Gun” theme.

Then the defending state-champion Bears defeated the Cougars 38-18.

Buchanan hasn’t lost “The Big One” since 2015, six straight victories, and leads the all-time series at 19-10.

Buchanan and Clovis are ranked Nos. 1 and 2 in the state by CalGrappler.
