Bee’s prep football Week 10 predictions: Will there be chaos in TRAC after showdown?
The Tri-River Athletic Conference continues to offer intrigue in the final two weeks of the high school football season.
This week’s key matchups are highlighted by The Bee’s top-ranked Clovis West visiting No. 6 Central for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff at Koligian Stadium.
A win by the Grizzlies and a Buchanan win means the TRAC will see a three-way tie for first place with one week remaining in the regular season.
The Bee will make a prediction on this game, as well as four other games.
The Bee is 35-10 for the season.
Clovis West (8-0, 3-0) at Central (5-3, 2-1)
When: 6:30 p.m. at Koligian Stadium
The Grizzlies took it to Clovis East last week, winning in impressive fashion 56-13, after jumping ahead 21-0 in the first quarter.
Of the five wins for Central, all came on the road. The Grizzlies are 0-3 at home.
If Central wants to get at least some of the TRAC title, the Grizzlies will need to get their first win at home this season against the Golden Eagles.
Clovis West has been impressive all season.
The Golden Eagles were tested against Clovis North, but still won 21-14.
It’s another tough matchup for Clovis West.
Prediction: Central 37, Clovis West 34
Clovis North (4-4, 1-2 TRAC) at Buchanan (7-1, 2-1)
When: 6:30 p.m. Friday
Buchanan started off slow, again, against Clovis, but pulled away in the second half after trailing 24-21 at the half.
The Bears know this game is big for them if they want to stay in the hunt for the TRAC title.
The Broncos lost a close one to Clovis West. Of their two losses in the TRAC, each was by seven points or fewer.
Prediction: Buchanan 34, Clovis North 30
Clovis East (6-2, 1-2) at Clovis (3-5, 0-3)
When: 6:30 p.m. Friday
Many thought the Timberwolves would give the Grizzlies a challenge. That never happened as Central rolled to a win.
Clovis East hopes to bounce back with a win against the Cougars, who have been competitive in their three losses (27-21 Central, 35-28 Clovis North and 45-24 Buchanan).
Prediction: Clovis 28, Clovis East 24
Kingsburg (7-1) at Reedley (6-2)
When: 7:30 p.m. Friday
The Vikings and Pirates meet in a nonleague matchup.
It’s another big matchup for Kingsburg, which is coming off a tough 27-26 loss to Central Valley Christian.
Reedley routed Sierra Pacific 42-20 in its last game.
Prediction: Kingsburg 40, Reedley 30
Bullard (3-5, 2-1 CMAC) at Sanger (4-4, 3-0)
When: 7:30 p.m. Friday
The Apaches look to keep pace with San Joaquin Memorial, also undefeated in the CMAC at 3-0.
Sanger and Memorial will meet next week, but the Knights stand in the way.
Bullard lost to Memorial, 56-0, last week.
Prediction: Sanger 24, Bullard 20
