High school football Week 9: Showdown comes down to final minute; Edison QB throws 8 TDs
The high school football showdown Friday night between The Bee’s No. 5-ranked Central Valley Christian at No. 6 Kingsburg didn’t disappoint an overflow crowd.
The unbeaten teams combined for five lead changes before a sack by Calleb Callison with 26 seconds left helped CVC to a 27-26 victory in the Tri-County-Kings Canyon League.
“It was an awesome game,” CVC coach Mason Hughes said. “Kids played hard. We didn’t have our best game. Kingsburg is just a tough team, and I mean, honestly, they outplayed us and we just had a play at the end, to be honest.”
Bryson Donelson scored on a 6-yard run that gave the Cavaliers the lead with 1:06 remaining.
The Vikings led 26-21 after Trace Jackson’s 20-yard run with 6:35 remaining.
