Nailea Fields of Caruthers volleyball is The Fresno Bee’s Athlete of the Week winner for Aug. 22-27 after picking up 10,747 votes for 55%.

She had nine kills in the Blue Raiders’ win over Washington Union.

Coming in second and third was Elaine Skierka of Sierra girls water polo (6,370, 33%) and Kennedy Cutler of Redwood volleyball (1,134, 6%).

Fourteen Fresno-area high school players were nominated drawing from cross country, water polo and girls volleyball.

Voting ended at 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

Jazzy Vargas of Madera South volleyball was the winner for the week of Aug. 15-20.
