Buchanan remains The Bee’s top-ranked high school baseball team following a sweep over Clovis last week.

The Bears have won 14 consecutive games heading into their three-game series against Central.

The Cougars, meanwhile, dropped four spots to No. 10 after teams behind them in last week’s poll picked up wins during the week.

Moving up were No. 6 Kerman, No. 7 Ridgeview, No. 8 Liberty-Bakersfield and No. 9 Righetti.

There was more changes in the rankings.

Central was swept by Clovis West, which means the Grizzlies fell three spots to No. 14.

Speaking of Central, the Grizzlies had to forfeit a game against Clovis after one of their pitchers went over the pitch count.

In more moves, Clovis East took 2 of 3 from Clovis North, thus moving up two spots to No. 15. The Broncos dropped two spots to No. 18.

No. 11 Reedley and No. 12 Fresno also moved up.

Around the horn

Jack Anker had a big outing on the mound for Tulare Western. All he did was strike out 18 in a 7-0 victory over Porterville.

A complete game performance by Colby Evans gave San Joaquin Memorial a 5-3 win over Sanger. He had 13 strikeouts and hit a home run.

It was a no no for Fresno pitcher Paul Marshall. He finished the game with 11 strikeouts in five innings in the Warriors’ 12-1 victory over McLane. Marshall also had a double and two RBI.
