Bee’s Best: Luke Karle is The Fresno Bee’s Boys Athlete of the Week winner for Feb. 14-19

The winner of The Fresno Bee’s Athlete of the Week in boys sports for Feb. 14-19 went to Luke Karle of Sanger basketball.

Karle received 11,173 votes (65%), ahead of Juvon Manzanales of Mt. Whitney basketball. Manzanales picked up 5,515 votes (32%).

Mykayle McCoy of Roosevelt basketball was third with 265 votes (2%).

Karle totaled 21 points to lead the Apaches past Dinuba 75-45 in the Central Section Division II playoffs.

Nineteen prep athletes were nominated.

The poll closed at noon Saturday.

The nominees were from baseball, basketball and soccer.

Recent winners include: Orion Tomlinson of Fresno Christian basketball, Camden Thompson of Clovis East basketball, Landon Almeida of Caruthers basketball, Ismael Gonzalez of Riverdale soccer and Beunju Moon of Lemoore basketball.
