How Clovis West pulled away from San Joaquin Memorial in boys basketball playoffs

An early run in the third quarter proved to be the difference in the Central Section Open Division showdown between top-seed Clovis West and No. 4 San Joaquin Memorial.

The Golden Eagles went on a 10-0 run early in the third quarter to distance themselves from the Panthers in an 83-65 victory.

Clovis West advances to host No. 2 St. Joseph-Santa Maria in the section championship on Feb. 26 at at 6 p.m..

Tyus Parrish-Tillman led the Golden Eagles with 18 points. Joseph Hunter had a game-high 37 points for the Panthers.

Girls: Clovis West 68, Nipomo 18

The top-seeded Golden Eagles are back in the Open Division championship.

Clovis West jumped out to a 50-9 halftime lead en route to a victory over No. 4 Nipomo.

The Golden Eagles controlled the game from the start, ballooning their lead to 20-9 at the end of the first quarter.

Etoyah Montgomery paced Clovis West with a game-high 25 points and Athena Tomlinson chipped in with 18 points.

The Golden Eagles will try to win their 10th straight section championship and third title in the Open Division.
