Edison-Huntington Beach running back Julius Gillick announced on Friday night that he has committed to Fresno State.

Gillick posted on X, formerly known as Twitter “Fresno! Let’s get to work!!! Im home…”

What really sold Gillick is Fresno State running backs coach Aaron Prier.

“He’s a guy that I’ve always had a lot of respect and admiration for,” Gillick told The Bee.

He continued to say it was “huge” that Fresno State head coach Matt Entz and offensive coordinator Josh Davis came from the “Dakotas.”

“Those are coaches who use systems where guys like me thrive,” he said. “It’s a program that I don’t just think I can help change, but a program that will help change me. Fresno is a city of winners.”

Entz coached at North Dakota State before going to USC in 2024. and Davis was the offensive coordinator at South Dakota after a stop at South Dakota State..

Gillick is the first high school commit under Entz.

Gillick, a three-star by 247Sports, helped Edison to a CIF state title after his Chargers defeated Central 21-14 in Division 1-A..

He had two rushing touchdowns and finished the game with 27 carries for 124 yards. Gillick also had two receptions for 14 yards.

Gillick played against Clovis West in the season opener at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

His coach is former Fresno State quarterback Jeff Grady.

For the season, he had 302 carries for 2,488 yards and 37 touchdowns.

Gillick had offers from Montana, Sacramento State and Idaho State.
