Culture, fan base wins over new Fresno State football signee from Bakersfield College
Logan Goodspeed grew up a Fresno State football fan.
He has been to plenty of games to understand the history of the Bulldogs.
When the former Bakersfield College defensive line standout made his official visit to a recent game, that is when he already decided he wanted to join Fresno State.
“Culture and environment I experienced when visiting on game day was a big part of it,” said Goodspeed, who already signed with Fresno State. “The fan base is absolutely electric and I look forward to it a lot. I also loved the whole staff including both of the head coaches I met. They both made me feel at home and like I was a priority to them which was reassuring. They’re also very close to home and I love the idea of being able to represent the valley.”
Goodspeed, listed at 6-foot-4, did meet with then-interim coach Tim Skipper, but when Matt Entz was introduced as the Bulldogs football coach, Goodspeed hoped he would still be noticed.
His worry didn’t last because he ended up meeting with Entz.
“I was excited to meet him and hear what he had to offer,” Goodspeed said. “He said he likes my film and wants to honor the previous scholarship.”
Goodspeed said he had offers from Fresno State, UNLV, Utah State, Hawaii, New Mexico and Utah Tech.
Two players in the transfer portal already signed with Fresno State in linebacker Jadon Pearson and defensive back Simeon Harris.
Also on the recruiting list: WR Harold Duvall, WR Jonavon Darrington, OT Brayden Walton, OL Braylan Henderson, WR Isaiah Dillon, DL Robert James III, OT Jonah Leaupepetele, QB Brayden Turner, QB Jonathan Craft, LB Lucas Blumling, S DaJhon Hall and OL Malcolm Polu Jr.
