The wait is finally over for one dog in Michigan who has been patiently waiting for her own happy ending… for literal years.

Sigrid (affectionately also known as Siggy) was rescued from a criminal situation 1,454 days ago, but couldn’t legally be put up for adoption, the Humane Society of Huron Valley in Ann Arbor said in a Facebook post.

“Sigrid’s story is one of patience, resilience, and the deep flaws in our system,” a Aug. 21 post said.

“This beautiful 9-year-old Great Dane was rescued from a cruelty case that dragged on for YEARS. Since 2020, while the court system moved at a snail’s pace, Siggy waited, day after day, for her chance at a loving forever home. It’s heartbreaking to think that she spent so much of her precious time in limbo.”

Four years of her life gone thanks to “a legal process that stretched the resources of our shelter and delayed her chance” to find a loving family and warm home according to the shelter.

But Siggy’s time has finally come.

“This gentle giant, weighing over 100lbs is crate-trained, eager to please, loves people, has lived peacefully with a cat, and never even tries to hop on the furniture, according to her foster, who describes her as ‘a VERY good, sweet dog,’” the post said.

Siggy’s likes include:

  • Long walks (careful though — she’s a strong one)

  • Toys

  • Fetch

Her ideal people will lead a “low-key lifestyle” due to her age, Siggy’s online pet profile says.
