One killed, three injured in apparent DUI crash in Fresno County, CHP says

One person was killed, three injured in a single-vehicle crash Saturday night in Fresno County.

California Highway Patrol officers determined alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash and the driver was placed under arrest for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. He will be booked into Fresno County jail when he is discharged from the hospital.

CHP officers responded to the crash at 7:15 p.m. on Trimmer Springs Road, north of Lakeview Avenue.

According to the CFP, a white GMC truck was traveling southbound on Trimmer Springs Road at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a sweeping right curve in the roadway, causing the truck to leave the east-side of the road and down a steep embankment.

The GMC rolled multiple times before coming to rest against a tree, about 200 feet off the roadway.

A 40-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and two additional passengers sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate and were taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

This collision remains under active investigation.
