Update: 33-year-old man killed in shooting ID’d by Fresno police

A man was shot and killed Thursday night in a Fresno neighborhood.

Fresno police Lt. Henry Garcia III said officers responded just before 7 p.m. to the 1800 block West Griffith Way, near Ashlan and Hughes avenues.

When officers found a man in his 30s who had been shot once in the upper body. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was identified Friday afternoon as 33-year-old Nicholas Bolanos, who was found hunched over and bleeding from the chest.

The motive for the shooting was being investigated by homicide detectives. Officers were also canvassed the area for surveillance video to potentially see what led up to the fatal shooting.

Garcia said detectives remained at the crime scene for several hours.

A suspect description was unknown.
