Update: Police identify 46-year-old man stabbed to death at family home in Fresno
A man was stabbed to death Saturday morning at a home in Fresno.
Police said the stabbing happened at 6:50 a.m. near Roosevelt High School at Jackson and Fillmore streets where officers found the victim dead inside the home in front of family members.
Witnesses told police the suspect entered the home and stabbed the man multiple times before leaving the home through the back door.
Police in an update Monday identified the victim as 46-year-old Gregory Delacruz, who lived at the home with family.
Delacruz woke up one of the occupants Saturday morning and told them he had been assaulted and to call 911, police said.
“An unknown person wearing a dark-colored hoodie was seen walking away from the residence after the stabbing. Detectives believe Delacruz and the suspect knew each other and are currently looking for video footage that captured the suspect fleeing.”
It’s the department’s 29th murder investigation of 2024. There were 34 at the same time in 2023.
