Update: Victim killed in Clovis crash ID’d. Suspected DUI driver ran red light, police say
Multiple people were injured early Sunday in a crash that left one person killed because of a suspected DUI driver in Clovis.
Officers responded to the collision just after 2 a.m. involving multiple vehicles at the intersection of Fowler and Gettysburg avenues.
Officers noticed five vehicles with multiple drivers and passengers.
Police said the suspected DUI driver was traveling west on Gettysburg in a Hyundai car, approaching Fowler at a high rate of speed.
Another Hyundai car was southbound on Fowler and entered the intersection at Gettysburg on a green signal light when the vehicle was struck by the suspected DUI driver who ran the red light.
Police said the collision caused the two cars to spin out and hit three vehicles parked in two driveways of homes nearby.
The suspected DUI driver, two of his passengers, and both occupants in the other vehicle, all sustained injuries and were taken to local hospitals after medical aid was provided on scene, police said.
A woman in the front passenger seat of the victim’s car died. The victim driver remained in critical condition at the hospital, police said.
The woman killed was identified Monday by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as Quinceia McBean, 25, of Coarsegold.
The suspect driver has been identified as 19-year-old Fnu Himanshu of Clovis. Himanshu will be booked into Fresno County Jail for multiple felony charges.
