Update: Coroner identifies 82-year-old who drowned in pool on Thanksgiving in Fresno

An 82-year-old man drowned on Thanksgiving in a pool at a home in Fresno.

Fresno Police Lt. Marcus Gray said officers responded to the area of Audubon Drive and Churchill Avenue just after 6 p.m. Thursday of reports of a man who was in the pool and not responding.

Officers arrived and jumped in the pool that was filled with 40-degree water in an attempt to save the man, Gray said.

CPR was performed on the man before he was taken to a local hospital.

The man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

There were no signs of foul play, Gray said.

The victim was identified Monday by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as Richard Hartman, 82, of Fresno.
