Man dies in triple shooting near Manchester Center in Fresno. Apartments also were hit
One man was killed and two people were injured in a shooting near Manchester Center in Fresno on Tuesday night.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the area of North Abby Street and East Garland Avenue around 9:45 p.m., Lt. Leslie Williams said at the scene.
“When our officers arrived they found evidence of a shooting and found an adult male in his mid-30s who was critically injured.”
The man died, Williams said, despite life-saving efforts from officers.
Minutes later, a second man arrived at Community Regional Medical Center in dowtown Fresno with several gunshot wounds. That man, who police described as also in his mid-30s, was in stable condition as of Tuesday night, Williams said.
A third person, a woman in her 20s, was grazed while standing across the street. She was treated by emergency personnel at the scene.
At least a couple of nearby apartments were struck by gunfire, but no inside was injured, Williams said.
The street was closed through the morning as homicide detectives looked for additional evidence, reviewed surveillance video and talked to witnesses.
There were few details on any suspect or what may have led to the scooting, Williams said.
This area of Fresno had been a fairly active area for police, Williams said, but the past few years have been relatively quiet.
“Shootings in this area have been really few and far between lately.”
