Update: 22-year-old killed in shooting ID’d by Fresno police. An 18-year-old was also shot

Homicide detective investigated a shooting Saturday afternoon in southeast Fresno that left one man dead and another injured.

The shooting happened at 2:30 p.m. on Cherry Avenue near Jensen Avenue, where officers responded to a report of a shooting victim who was not breathing inside of a vehicle.

Officers were told of a second shooting victim and found a second man in the road suffering from a wound to the back of the head, Fresno Police Lt. Skye Leibee said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified by police in an update Monday as 22-year-old Alfonso Salgado.

The second shooting victim, 18 was shot in his lower body. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition and was later discharged from the hospital.

The motive for the shooting is unknown.

Leibee said there was no ShotSpotter electronic activation and no reports of shots fired.
