Bicyclist killed in collision with vehicle near Madera. Driver fled scene, CHP says

A bicyclist was killed in Madera County on Monday when a driver struck him and sped off, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The bicyclist was on Raymond Road near Road 28, northeast of the city of Madera, when he was struck and killed in the hit-and-run about 5 a.m., CHP said.

A caller to 911 reported hearing the crash and upon going outside found the bicyclist, but the car was gone, CHP said.

Officers said the victim was male but could not immediately provide his age.
