Neighbors at central Fresno apartment feud with one using a rock, the other a gun

Neighbors at a central Fresno apartment might want to reconsider living near each other after Wednesday’s evening.

Fresno Police responded around 6 p.m. to the area of North Thorne Avenue and Saginaw Way after a ShotSpotter alert went off detecting four rounds fired.

Lt. Brian Valles said neighbors at the Redwood Apartments got into some type of dispute.

One neighbor threw a rock.

The other neighbor responded by shooting a gun.

Valles said both neighbors were detained for questioning.

Based on preliminary interviews, Valles said a 19-year-old man threw a rock at his neighbor’s window for reasons not immediately known.

Then a 33-year-old woman came out of the unit and fired a gun in the 19-year old’s directions.

Valles said no one was injured.

But the woman “more than likely” faces charges for assault with a deadly weapon, Valles added.

Three shell cases were found, and police were waiting to receive a search warrant to enter the woman’s apartment to possibly locate the gun that was fired, Valles said.
