Street racers invade Fresno cruise night, police say. Officers issue over 100 citations

Fresno police cracked down on street racing Sunday night — citing over 100 vehicles.

According to social media posts by the Fresno Police Department on Monday afternoon, officers on Sunday night wrote 107 tickets for street racing, towed and impounded 21 vehicles and made three DUI arrests.

According to police, motorcycle officers were working the Bringing Fulton Back Cruise downtown, which they said remained peaceful until street racing groups joined in.

Police then had to perform traffic stops, resulting in citations and impounded vehicles.

Later Sunday night, officers responded to heavy street racing and cruiser traffic on Blackstone and Bullard avenues.

Officers again stopped many vehicles, including a car being driven by a mother with her two young children in the car. The driver was cited for reckless driving and child endangerment, and her vehicle was impounded, police said. The driver’s license was referred to DMV for re-examination and Child Protective Services was advised of the case.
