Daycare worker arrested on suspicion of injuring 1-year-old, Visalia police say
A daycare worker was arrested in Visalia Friday after police learned that injuries sustained by a one-year-old were non-accidental.
The incident occurred around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, when officers received reports of an unconscious 1-year-old girl at the Imagination Playhouse Daycare in the 3300 block of West Sunnyside Avenue.
The child was taken to Kaweah Health where she was in critical condition, and was later airlifted to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera County. Doctors told officers that the injuries to the child appeared non-accidental, according to the Visalia Police Department.
After executing a search warrant at Imagination Playhouse Daycare and conducting interviews, detectives learned that the 1-year-old sustained the injuries while at the daycare and under the care of 41-year-old Amanda Taylor. Taylor was the only adult who had contact with the victim during that time, police said.
On Friday, a no-bail arrest warrant was issued for Taylor. She was arrested without incident and booked at the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Facility.
The Visalia Police Department is asking anyone with additional information about this incident or parents whose children experienced suspicious injuries while in the care of Imagination Playhouse contact Detective Andrew Saelee at 559-713-4576.
