16-year-old suspect arrested on murder charge from 2020 killing, Fresno police say

A 16-year-old has been charged with murder, following a homicide investigation by the Fresno Police Department that lasted more than a year.

Police believe the juvenile, who is not being identified, is responsible for the shooting death of 17-year-old Lance San in September 2020.

San was found in his car in the area of Barton and Washington avenues in southeast Fresno. He had two gunshot wounds and crashed into a stop sign during the shooting. Officers provided medical aid and San was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died.

According to police, the suspect was 15 at the time of the killing, which they believe was related to a robbery.

The suspect was already in custody at the Juvenile Justice Campus on unrelated charges, police said.

He was officially charged Friday.
