Fresno man’s slaying in Riverside County remains under investigation. Here’s the latest.

The killing earlier this year of a Fresno man in Riverside County remains under investigation with a suspect named in the case.

The victim, Pedro Ramirez-Hermandez, 27, of Fresno was shot June 21, according to information from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies were called to the 40000 block of Marcela Lane in Hemet to investigate a shooting, and found Ramirez-Hernandez suffering from a single gunshot wound.

Ramirez-Hernandez was taken to a local hospital, where he died July 2.

Investigators named 25-year-old Angel Contreras of Hemet as a suspect in Ramirez-Hernandez’ slaying. Contreras remains at large as the investigation continues.

Riverside County investigators posted an update in the case to the department’s Facebook and Instagram accounts on Friday in an effort to attract help from the public in locating Contreras.

Contreras is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 148 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. A booking photo from Riverside County shows him as having a beard on his chin and a mustache.
