Girl, 17, arrested in fatal stabbing of boyfriend’s roommate during fight, Fresno police say

A 17-year-old girl is accused of stabbing a man multiple times during an argument between roommates in northwest Fresno.

Sergio Bonboster, 20, was identified as the man killed in the incident that occurred near West Emerson and North Hughes avenues.

Police went to a dry canal about 5 p.m. Oct. 12 and discovered the body of a deceased person. An autopsy determined that stabbing was the cause of death and Bonboster was identified by fingerprints and tattoos as the victim, Fresno Police Lt. Bill Dooley said Friday.

Bonboster lived with a male roommate nearby, and homicide detectives served a warrant and interviewed Lawrence Madrid, 20, and his girlfriend, the 17-year-old.

They determined that the girl intervened during a fight between the men and stabbed Bonboster.

The girl was booked into the Juvenile Justice Center on murder charges; Madrid was booked into Fresno County Jail as an accessory to murder.

Anyone with additional information about the homicide is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 559-498-7867.
