Gunshots rang out after fender bender. Now, Fresno police seek this homicide suspect
Fresno police identified Damion Salinas, 19, as the suspect sought in the slaying of Joshua Thao, 36, who was gunned down after a traffic collision in southeast Fresno in mid-August.
The shooting took place on Sunday, Aug. 16, at the intersection of East Belmont and North Backer avenues. Lt. Larry Bowlan of the Street Violence Bureau said that after the minor crash, both drivers called family members, and an argument broke out.
According to witnesses, the disturbance appeared to be calming down when Salinas pulled out a handgun and fired two shots at the other group. Once shot struck Thao, who died from the wound.”
“It was just a tragic deal,” said Bowlan. “The victim did nothing wrong. (The gunman) could have shot anyone in that group.”
Police are asking anyone who knows the location of Salinas call Crime Stoppers at 559-498-7867, where they may remain anonymous and receive a $3,000 reward.
