Fresno man ambushed by ‘multiple shooters’ dies at hospital. Police search for suspects
Fresno police are searching for suspects involved in an ambush that left a man dead from several gunshots wounds early Thursday.
Police said Kenneth Butler, 38, was in his car with a woman around 1:23 a.m. when he was “specifically targeted by multiple shooters.”
Police arrived at East Lorena and South Geneva avenues in southwest Fresno to find a woman staggering out of the car with a gunshot wound to her arm.
Police, who described the shooting as violent, then found Butler in the driver seat with multiple gunshots wounds to his upper body.
The two were rushed to Community Regional Medical Center, where Butler later died. The woman, who was not identified was recovering, police said in a news release.
According to police, a bullet from the shooting flew into an apartment were a mother and her child slept. Nobody was injured as a cause, police said.
It was the city’s 23rd homicide of the year, police said.
