Man shot and killed in broad daylight in southwest Fresno

A man in his 30s was killed in a drive-by shooting Tuesday afternoon in southwest Fresno.

The homicide happened around 4 p.m. near East George Avenue and South Tupman Street when officers heard shots fired from a half-mile away, Lt. Anthony DeWall said.

Officers learned there was a shooting victim.

Officers drove to the location, but family members had transported the man to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died.

Police identified the victim as 29-year old Willie Lee Barnes of Fresno.

So far, there are no suspect information. Detectives on Wednesday determined it was a drive-by shooting.
