Gun battle erupts in a northwest Fresno alley. Police are searching for clues

A gun battle in a northwest Fresno alley left three people wounded Saturday night, police said.

The shootout happened around 10:45 p.m. near Fairmont and Holt avenues, near West Shaw Avenue.

Lt. Tim Tietjen said a white SUV was driving through the north alley of Fairmont when gunfire erupted with other individuals in the alley and “it seems like an ongoing gun battle through the alley.”

The SUV sped away, Tietjen said.

The three people were rushed to the hospital by an individual and were listed in stable condition, Tietjen said. It was not immediately clear if the victims were from the SUV or others in the alley.

Detectives are investigating the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call Fresno police at 559-621-7000.
