A man was shot in the face by another driver on Friant Road in northeast Fresno on Sunday evening.

Police said the shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. on southbound Friant Road just south of Copper Avenue. A woman riding in the passenger seat of the victim’s car was not injured in the shooting.

Lt. Bill Dooley said the victim told officers a vehicle pulled up next to them as they drove southbound on Friant and words were exchanged between the two vehicles. The suspect then fired one round at the victim and sped away south down Friant while the victims pulled off to the side of the road.

The man was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and was in critical but stable condition.

The suspect vehicle is described as a silver or gray sedan.
