CHP investigating Madera County Highway 41 shooting

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a shooting on Highway 41 near Avenue 12 in Madera County.

Sgt. Brian Pennings said the incident occurred about 3:23 a.m. Monday. Officers were stopped southbound on 41, investigating a possible drunken driving case when a motorist pulled up and reported that his passenger had been shot by the driver of a pickup.

The victim was rushed to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The suspect was reported to be driving a silver pickup. Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 559-277-7250.
